think the auction shown above is pretty fair. West has shown six spades, four
diamonds and a minimum hand while East has made a game try and been denied.
That 3H bid is not a cue-bid but just an effort to reach the best contract and
East was probably hoping to hear 3NT opposite. As it happens they have landed
on a pinhead with 4D being a (fairly) easy make while any game call is
hopeless.
