21st April – Board 23. Game All. Dealer
South.
Sometimes the direct
approach is the best and that was certainly the case on hand 23!

I
know lots of pairs fell short on this hand but it is hard to see why. 1D is the
obvious opening in my book although I can live with 1C and East does well not
to force with 2H, as this is never right with a two-suiter. After the 1S rebid
all East needs to know about are the key-cards and then it’s off to the races.
With the queen of trumps singleton thirteen tricks are a spread –
declarer-proof you might say.
