7th November – Board 5: North/South
Game. Dealer North.
‘Always bid what you think
partner wants to hear when you possibly can’ has always been a good mantra at
the bridge table.

The
auction has been dead simple – and quite right too! At some tables North chose
to rebid hearts causing partner to make an agricultural leap to 3NT, which
proved, cumbersome due to entry problems but ultimately successful due to the
favourable spade position. However if you are worried that the auction shown
promises more than three card support think again because it nearly always
shows just three. I’ll let you think about that.
