red-blooded West might bid 4C I suppose at his first turn but that would not
deter North in the slightest. East would lead his singleton club full of
expectation I dare say but he would be disappointed at the sight of dummy. But
what should West play? Why the king of course to draw his partner’s attention
to the heart suit. And sure enough when East takes the ace of trumps he should
play ace and another heart as the only way to defeat the contract.
