is a splinter agreeing diamonds, forcing to game, and showing a singleton or
void in spades. South should make life difficult by bidding 4S and West should
pass, forcing of course. Once his partner shows club control West should not be
concerned that his heart cue-bid shows the ace or a void, for his partner would
hardly be bidding so strongly missing the ace of hearts and the two top
diamonds. So 5S it is and without the king of clubs West signs off in 6D. I
know it’s not easy but it was never meant to be!
