Any sudden leaps in the

West
is well worth a raise to game in spades when his partner responds in that suit
but it is always best to give as much information as possible in one go. So 2H
would just be a normal reverse, 16 points or more and at least 4-5 in hearts
and clubs, 3H would be a splinter agreeing hearts and showing a singleton heart
while 4H is also a splinter but shows a no-loser suit. This would warn East off
any advance beyond game because of the wasted value of the king of hearts and
everyone is happy.
