Full House

31st Jan – Board 22: East/West Vul. Dealer East.
For only the second time in my life – and the first time was  about 45 years ago – have I witnessed a pair having all the trumps between them. I thought the bidding was fine when it occurred against me last Thursday although there was little to the play.

That South hand is about the king of spades too good perhaps for the pre-empt although starting the bidding at a high level certainly keeps the opponents out of the auction. If South opened 1 West would certainly wade in and who knows what would happen then. Even at the adverse vulnerability six of a major would constitute a small gain.
